Although Only One Lifetime is Vertical Focus’ debut album, it has the sound and the quality of songs that rival a band that has been putting out records for years.  Literally, it is one great song after another.  The thoughtful lyrics, which draw inspiration from the Bible, make inventive use of both rhyme and metaphor.  As an example, a line from Hear My Cry ingeniously describes a seared conscience as "anesthetized to the piercing eyes of God".  The musical foundation of this album is the acoustic guitar playing of singer/songwriter Scott Bryson, an accomplished finger-picker.  Drums, bass, additional guitars and harmonica fill out the sound masterfully and the violin and cello add a unique and dramatic finishing touch.
